Production details

We work with architects, designers, artists, and creative practitioners to apply patented mycelium materials across art, interiors, and construction projects. Using biomaterials made from upcycled date palm waste, we produce mycelium acoustic and cladding panels, bespoke elements, and custom applications for installations, spatial projects, and material-led design. We welcome collaborations with the creative community to explore new uses for fungi-based materials, supporting prototypes, commissions, and experimental projects where MycoSphere’s material is integrated and credited as part of the final outcome.

History

Founded in 2022, MycoSphere was established to rethink material production in arid regions by transforming upcycled date palm waste into patented mycelium biomaterials for the built environment. What began as an experimental research initiative has evolved into the UAE’s first dedicated mycelium biomanufacturing venture, focused on developing locally grown alternatives for architecture, design, and sustainability. The studio has developed projects that demonstrate the potential of fungi-based materials in architecture and design, including supplying mycelium materials for the Tarabot Pavilion at the Jameel Arts Centre and developing ReRoot, an award-winning emergency shelter shown at Dubai Design Week. Today, MycoSphere collaborates with designers and artists to explore new applications for regenerative materials in creative and built environment projects.
